The successful candidate will oversee research related to the development of microbial/microbial electrochemical processes in relation to hydrogen and methane production. Current projects of the research group focus on hyperthermophilic hydrogen production in microbial electrolysis cells using pure culture of iron-reducing microorganisms, electromethanogenesis and its integration to conventional anaerobic digestion systems, low strenght wastewater treatment in anaerobic systems and nutrient recovery.
In addition, the candidate may supervise graduate and/or undergraduate students, prepare project reports and manuscripts, and contribute significantly to the preparation of competitively funded research proposals. The project may support exploratory research and laboratory method development to inform and strengthen research proposals.
